York 6 Culminating Event

December 18, 2007 · 52 Comments

The culmination to the fall York 6 expedition is coming around the corner very fast. The culmination will include all of the businesses in their own area. We will be selling our goods and services for York money until the final session, when we’ll collect real money (only 25 or 50 cents) and donate all of our profits to a charity of our choice.

The culmination is coming. Tell us if you’re business is ready for 20th.

Our business was M yo M’s and my partners were Ajna and Jack. We had a very succesful business but sometimes we did not get along. Over al our business made alot of money and we were happy about that. As for the culminating avent, it was very exausting and strenuouse. At the end I tought I was going to pass out, but it was alot of fun and we had a good time. I learned alot from the culminating avent and have become an entreupreneur in the prosses.

  • Anonymous // January 30, 2008 at 12:57 pm

We were the TTT I think that it was really fun though it had things that were extreamly hard At the end we found out how much we made for our bisiness we made 402$.
If I had to do it again I don’t think that I would sell tootsie rolls. It was a very exhausting day and was very challeging.

  • Samantha // January 30, 2008 at 12:57 pm

I was working with Taiylor and Kiersten. They were so nice to work with, and were always loyal to every costomer. We wroked very well together, little tiny arguments here and there, but the important thing is that we wroked through them as a team :) !!!!! So anyway we did decide to eliminate the squirrel impression, people were actually not laughing but instead they showed extremely scared and frightened faces every time we did the squirrel impresion. There was a time where our business was so busy, and it felt like we were an “actual” popcorn business, it felt really cool to be running a business. Our business was extremely succesful with cash and we came in tenth at the list of the top ten companies that made the most money. Our business planned alot of things we were going to do,say, and act to make our business very attractive : ) we did very well, so dont be surprised if someday your driving down the street and a bill board catches your eye and says: ” THE POPPIN LAUGH SHACK!”

  • Madleine // January 30, 2008 at 12:58 pm

The name is my bussiness is called the Mystery Jellybeans and me and my partner named trinh came up with this idea because we wanted to work with something colorfull and we could’t thnik of any game with anything color so since jellybeans are colorfull we decided to do jellybeans .We were happy with what we were going to work with we were so ready!!!!

  • Phoebe // January 30, 2008 at 12:59 pm

My business was The Dizzy Chicken Chase I worked with Katie and Erin I think we worked well together even though in hte second sesion but we worked through the complacations. That day was very tiring I wanted to collapse and the end of the first sesion.
We made a lot of money in the second sesion because the 7th and 8th graders came they enjoyed it very much that time we made about 384 dollers and and in the real money sesion we made $21.65!! at the last sesion we had to channge businesses form Dizzy Chicken Chase to Screamin’ Chicken Toss because we thought that adults wanted to get dizzy and run after a rubber chicken.

  • Katie // January 30, 2008 at 12:59 pm

I thought my business The Dizzy Chicken Chase made a lot of money!!! I bet we would have made even more money if we’d been in the gym, since we were in the small gym. I myself felt sick so I could have had a better time. Then i had to leave at noon to go to New Jersey. While i was there i had a pretty good time even though i felt …….. lets just say not my best. My partners, Erin and Phoebe took over after I left and did a great job!

  • Emma // January 30, 2008 at 1:00 pm

My business was S is for Smoothies. My partners were Cole S. and Cat H. During the culminating event we worked pretty well together. Although, we did run into some issues. Keeping our station clean was one big thing. We were using real fruit and blenders and realt messy sloppy things to make our smoothies. There was also a rashining problem. We really had to think about how much of one thing to put in our smoothies or else we would have run out. At one point we ran out of strawberries and we had to use pineapple instead. We could tell that people liked what we made because we had a line the whole time, and the same people kept coming back for more.
If i could do it over again i would have made some changes. If i knew how tireing it would have been i wouldnt even have done smoothies. It went smoothly though. And it turned out well. I was happy with the turnout and how well our business went. PEOPLE LOVED IT! But i will never ever even look at another smoothie in my life. Considering I was the only one making the smoothies! Turnout was great. Most exaughsting thing EVER.

  • Erin // January 30, 2008 at 1:02 pm

WOW!!! The culminating event was let’s just say exhausting! My business put alot of hard work into the making of the Dizzy Chicken Chase. Sadly after the first session, we lost a member. Katie was off to New Jersey. So Phoebe and I had to work alone.
To our suprise the next session was so tiring and we were ready to collapse by the end!!!! Don’t get me wrong, it was an awesome expierince and I LOVED it but it was alot more work then what I expected. In the first session business wasn’t so great and we were a little bit upset but we got through it.
Then come second session business was booming. customers one after another coming in anxious for a fun game!!!!
Come third session we changed the name of the game…. literally. It was suddenly Screamin’ Chicken Toss. Who knew? Customers still came in one after another but you know not as much as second session. Third session was real money so prices dropped so money seemed like we made close to nothing. But that wasn’t the case we made top 15 for money raisers!! Woo Hoo!! So that’s the carnival for you!!!!

  • Christian // January 30, 2008 at 1:03 pm

The name of our business is Street Hoops and the partner s name is Shawn Alferds . Yes we did work very well as a team . Where is how it works you make shoot you win a prize .

  • Taiylor // January 30, 2008 at 1:03 pm

The carnival was really fun but was also a mad house. there were people handing you money and you didnt know who handed you the money and who didnt. and on top of that. all my partners were getting in little pointless fights.
After the carnival i was tired had a headache from all the talking and yelling all over noise. When i got home i went stright to bed and slept through the night. but even though the tiring noise overwhelming partners it was an amazing exspirience all togehter.
    Taiylor :)

  • SANNY // January 30, 2008 at 1:08 pm

My business is the Totally Terrrific Tootsies my partners were Ben and Jeremy. Yes we did. None of us were fighting during the Carnival. All of us did the best we could, none of us had a hard time. Yes I did, I went around telling people to come to our business. We raise the price because the candy price was low. You have to work hard to get money from people.

  • Ajna // January 30, 2008 at 1:14 pm

Our York 6 culminating event was very hard and tiring it felt like you just want to go home. My partners were Jake and Jack and my business was m.m’s and our job was a game. And how you play it is you try to get the color green and if you do you WIN a prize. Being in this culminating event was alot of work that ment doing your best getting along with your group wich did not go so good with my group. Also you have to make alot of money and try to make people happy but doing all of the work we did it was all worth it at the end and you learn alot of resonsiblity and the meening of how a real business is like I loved doing the culminating event.

  • Francesca // January 31, 2008 at 12:10 pm

I couldn’t make it to the carnival because I was sick..

  • Alex =) // January 31, 2008 at 12:12 pm

well, the buisness was not all that of a sucess, but atleast we had fun at it!Lexi and I were not as big on teamwork as we were on treating costomers.

  • Dylan // January 31, 2008 at 12:12 pm

This event was GREAT! It was so fun. Our business was V.G.P.A. we had so much fun having a business that we worked for.

  • Danny // January 31, 2008 at 12:13 pm

My business was VGPA and my partners were Dylan and Hussein. Dylan was only there for one session and he did not help draw the sign. Our business was only for boys, so if you do a business do something that everybody likes. :)
    We didn’t make much ca$h.

  • Hussein // January 31, 2008 at 12:13 pm

  • Kate // January 31, 2008 at 12:17 pm

loco hot cocoa was a fun business to run, but sadly we diden’t make much money. We worked very well together and did every thing we could to make money, but even though not getting alot of money, we had lots of fun!

  • Ricardo // January 31, 2008 at 1:59 pm

The business fair was so much fun. I had such a good time. Our Business came in 3rd place. We ( Lilly, Malachi and myself ) mad mini pizza and people said that they tasted sooooooo good! I was so glad to here that.
I am glad that we had this business fair. But I am sad it is all over and done with, I was habing so mush fun…. but is was also very tireing. I was soo tired when it was done.

Also for the money we got in 1st place I was very happy with that to.

  • Jack // January 31, 2008 at 2:01 pm

My business was remote control car racing with my partener Zack. We got tons O’ business and came in fourth for most cash made. We made 420 dollars. It was pretty fun but i was happy when it was over especially because that was the last day of school before VACATION!!!!!!!!!

  • Malachi // January 31, 2008 at 2:02 pm

i….i think i did all lot of leg work at the carnival. i didn’t get along with my partners amanda and lilly at first but then at the end we got along quite good.We made 600-700 dollars is york cash. my business is miniZ Pizza Parlor. we got in first place in real cash and 3rd in york cash. i think the harded session for our group was session two.The york 7th and eighth graders. I was working in the kitchen making tons of pizzas and and i was having a blast then when i delivered some pizzas my crew said not to make anymore pizzas because the eitgh graders and 7th graders already ate and wasn’t hunbgry for pizzas. even if they were small. Then my crew made me stand out yelling in peoples faces saying “MINIZ PIZZA!” It was so embarrising…..

  • Aprille // January 31, 2008 at 2:03 pm

My business was CBJ’s Cakewalk. I worked with my friends Bridget and Julie. Our business did very well. My team was able to work together very nicely and we made a lot of money. A problem we had at the end was that we still had 2 1/2 boxes left but Mr. Michad anounced that CBJ’s Cakewalk was just selling peices of cake and we had a mad rush of people that just wanted cake. We made so much money off the people that just wanted cake that we came in second place for the last session. I had a really good time at the carnival!

  • Bridget // January 31, 2008 at 2:04 pm

My buiness CBJ’s Cakewalk did well at the carnivle despite set backs such as one of my parters Juile was sick. At he end we had a sale on cake and the game we had so much. We had alot of fun event if we wern’t the most porfetable. If all expedtions are as fun as this school will be a real blast!

  • Lilly // January 31, 2008 at 2:04 pm

The York 6 business fair was awesome!!!My groups business Mini’z Pizza Parlor was a smash hit! We came in 3rd place for york money and 1st place for real money!! I thought the carnival went very well. In the first session we gained alot of york money from the windor 6 kids. The next session was with the york 7th and 8th we did ok but not as well as the first session. In the last session of the day with the family members we did great we got 47 dollars!! coming in first place with real money!
The business expedition was a great experience for me and taught me alot about running a business.

  • Julie O. // January 31, 2008 at 2:05 pm

My business was cakewalk, my partners were Clare and Bridget. We all worked as a team, we got along as a team. Our business went well. At the end people just bought our cake. We prepared very well, we had a lot of supples so nothing was missing. What I would change is just to sell the cake because it was more successful thenplaying and wining. TALK TO YOU LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mica // January 31, 2008 at 2:05 pm

The first sesion was reallllly fun! One of my partners wasn’t there. I was the cashier, and my partner helped people make squishies. I got more business because more people wanted to buy one. I was sick the second sesion and the night show I didn’t do much…

  • Ivy // January 31, 2008 at 2:06 pm

My business was Penny Toss and I worked with Altana and Abby. Our business went really well, except when we ran out of prizes. Also we had one problem, some people thought that even once their turn was over and they had already won a prize that they could keep tossing and winning prizes. So that’s how we ran out of prizes. We had alot of other sixth graders play and alot of little kids during the real money session. Expecsially Mrs. Hatch’s son!! :p Our business was really succesful and I had alot if fun!!!

  • Altana~M.... O. // January 31, 2008 at 2:06 pm

My business was the Penny Toss, The Penny Toss was pretty successful. We worked as a team and we got along well. We encountered some problems, we ran out of prizes and people kept on tossing when it was not there turn. It was just so fun!!!!!?!!!!!

  • Fardowsa // January 31, 2008 at 2:06 pm

Our business was Ink and Pink . My business partness were Sarah Aprille. When it was the carnivel Sarah and Aprille where not here so I had to run the carnivel all by myself. It was not that hard but it would been so much easer if my business prantess were here I do not blame them they that they were not here.

  • Ross McCabe // January 31, 2008 at 2:07 pm

the carnival was great. it felt kind of weird, knowing that this was it, what we had worked for all these months, but it was kind of exhilarating.I felt sorry for the businesses that didn’t do so well, but you know what? I was so happy for our business, Squishy Stop, that it was kind of hard to care….
    TGIF!!!
